Fun in the Fall!

Caiden is going to be 6 months old on Sunday....where has the time gone?? He is rolling over and in fact rolls over and over and over again. You can't take your eyes off him for a minute! He is also quite a giggler, laughing at everything. His new favorite game is Peek a Boo (which is fitting since Halloween is tomorrow). He also just learned to give a high five and he is working on his wave...he REALLY wants to and we know it won't be long. He is also very close to sitting up by himself (he can do it for a few seconds)! Come back soon to see him dressed as a bear cub for Halloween. Is it bad if we take him trick or treating and eat all of his candy? ;)

Big Man on Campus! 4 months!

It has been a little while since I have updated but Caiden is growing fast as ever and we have been having SO much fun! He is now 4 1/2 months old and packing on the lbs. At his appointment the other day he was 15 lbs and 26 inches long. Dr. said he is all caught up in weight (55th percentile) and is going to be tall (82nd percentile for height). Said he would be "an inch or two taller than Dad." Since Ryan thinks he is already 6' (yes, we know he is dreaming)this was a bit of a blow, I mean, how could his SON possibly be taller than HIM? ;) Caiden's head is still a bit of a peanut in the 15th percentile. He has been talking A LOT, he started this new shrieking and screaming at the top of his lungs while he plays and is quite content just looking around at his surroundings and his colorful toys.
A few big events that happened recently...Caiden went to his first Cougar game! Pictures are posted below. He also was baptized (pictures also posted below). Other than that we have just been hanging out having fun.

Caiden's Two Month Checkup!

Well today we had our two month checkup with Dr. Sliman and everything went well. Caiden confirmed my fears...he is growing at an extremly fast rate! Which is a good thing...I know. :) He weighs 10 lbs, 13 oz. (30th percentile) and is 23 3/8 inches long (70th percentile). His head is a tiny peanut coming in at the 12th percentile. So to sum things up he is a tall skinny guy with a small head.
He is continuing to smile more and more each day. He loves when Ryan blows lightly in his face and surprisingly he really loves having his diaper changed! Our next adventure is in a couple of weeks when we hit the road to Portland, Oregon where Ryan and I are both in our good friend's Marcey and Ryan's wedding. Hopefully Caiden will be on his best behavior!

Happy 4th of July! Caiden is 9 weeks!

Nine weeks...two months...we can't believe how fast the time is going! Caiden is smiling more everyday and really starting to interact more with us and his surroundings. Here he was on the 4th of July!

We just got a new play mat for him (thanks to my belated work baby shower) and he really enjoys it!

Welcome to the Cox Family Blog!

Hello Family and Friends! I have decided posting a blog online would be so much easier than updating everyone individually through emails and telephone calls that are so often interrupted by a hungry Caiden. Since I am about 5 weeks late for the occassion I will start from the beginning...Caiden Jeffrey Cox was born Friday, May 2 at 8:35 p.m. via C-section (he was double footling breach and almost one month early). He was 6 lbs. 8 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. We came home from the hospital on May 5 (Ryan and my anniversary) and I recovered nicely at home.

The first few weeks were pretty rough - he had dropped 9% of his birth weight so he was just 5 lbs. 14 oz. when we brought him home. He was having difficulty gaining weight and was a bit jaundiced so we were in the Dr.'s office almost every single day for his bili and weight checks. It wasn't until about a week and a half ago that he surpassed his birth weight and was up to 7 lbs. 7 oz. He is just one long and lean guy!

This past week he has started sleeping better and usually goes to sleep about midnight and sleeps solid until 5 a.m. Yayyy!! Then he naps on and off until I get up with him usually about 8 a.m.

I hope to keep this updated with pictures and all things Caiden! A few of his favorite things...his mommy (of course, I have all the food), his Daddy (especially when he is falling asleep on his chest...seems a little hairy to me but he seems to like it), his best friend Jonas, trips in the car, walks outside (when it's nice) in his stroller and he is just finding his hands so he seems to enjoy staring at them.
